RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Sept. 30
Boys’ soccer: Lakeland 4, Rhinelander 1
The RHS boys’ soccer team fell on the road at Lakeland 4-1 Tuesday night in Minocqua.
Owen Evers had the Hodags’ lone goal, converting on a penalty kick in the 18th minute. Lakeland took a 2-1 lead to halftime and scored twice more in the second half.
Lakeland outshot Rhinelander 34-4 in the match. Eric Parish made 19 saves in the loss.
Rhinelander (0-10-2, 0-6-1-0 Great Northern) travels to Mosinee on Thursday.
Volleyball: Northland Pines 3, Rhinelander 0
The Rhinelander High School volleyball team was swept by Northland Pines 25-14, 25-11, 25-8 Tuesday at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
Tori Stella led Rhinelander with three kills; Kylie Treder and Addy Wiczek each had three assists, Kayla Skubal had 13 digs and Corynn Waksmonski added a pair of blocks.
Rhinelander (2-27, 0-5 Great Northern) travels to Medford on Thursday.
Girls’ tennis: Rhinelander 4, Wisconsin Rapids 3
The Rhinelander High School girls’ tennis team swept doubles and defeated Wisconsin Rapids 4-3 in the final dual meet of the regular season Tuesday at the RHS tennis courts.
Maddie Legrey and Teagan Turcotte rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 win at No. 1 doubles to secure the clinching point for the Hodags. Eva Heck/Willow VanDenHeuvel and Willow Mutter/Addy Currie were straight-set winners at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles. Lucy Evers won in straight sets at No. 4 singles.
Rhinelander (17-8) will travel to Wausau this coming Monday for WIAA Division 1 subsectionals.
