RHS Sports recap: Saturday, Sept. 27

Volleyball: Rhinelander 1-4, Phillips Invite

The Rhinelander High School volleyball team got back in the with column with a three-set victory over Bruce on Saturday as it took fifth place in the Phillips Invite. 

The Hodags rallied from down a set, and down 19-15 in the second to defeat Brunce 21-25, 25-23, 15-10. It was the Hodags’ only win on the day. The team lost in straight sets to Prentice (25-20, 25-17), Mellen (25-16, 25-19) and Phillips (25-11, 25-11) and to Chequamegon in three sets (25-21, 15-25, 15-8).

Olivia Ruetz led the Hodags with 22 kills. Tori Stella had 17 kills and 61 digs, Kayla Skubal had 95 digs and Kylie Treder had 43 assists. 

Rhinelander (2-26, 0-4 Great Northern) hosts Northland Pines on Thursday.
