Hunter safety course in Rhinelander this October
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the School District of Rhinelander Community Education Program are partnering to offer a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) certified hunter safety course this October.
The course will be held on Oct. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Oneida County Law Enforcement Center, located at 2000 East Winnebago Street in Rhinelander. Participants are expected to attend all scheduled class dates.
Course objectives include reducing the potential for accidents, injuries, and fatalities; minimizing conflicts between hunters, landowners, and other resource users; and promoting safe, responsible, and ethical use of the environment and natural resources.
The program is geared toward individuals age 12 and older, though participants of all ages are welcome. Instruction will be led by Michael Baran of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
The fee for the class is $10 per person, payable by cash or check at the first class session. In addition, students are required to obtain a DNR Customer ID number prior to registering. If a student does not already have one, they should call the DNR at 1-888-936-7463.
Pre-registration is required, and class size is limited. A separate registration form must be completed for each participant.
