Patricia “Patti” Mary Young
Patricia “Patti” Mary Young, 78, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 16, 1947, in Menomonee, Mich., to Alred and Eunice (Bassine) Simono, Patti grew up in Coleman. She married the love of her life, Keith Garner Young, and together they shared a life of devotion, adventure, and unwavering partnership.
Patti began her career in cosmetology but found her true calling in caring for and teaching children — through her home daycare, work with Head Start, and time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She poured love and creativity into every child she met.
A gifted cook and hostess, Patti’s table was always filled with family, friends, and laughter. She loved cuddling her grandchildren and golden retrievers, exploring nature, chasing waterfalls, and relaxing on sunny beaches. She also enjoyed motorcycle trips, cheering on Wisconsin sports teams, and sharing stories that brought people together.
Patti’s deep Catholic faith guided her life, and her compassion and grace touched everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband, Keith; children, Tina (James) Schuelke and Tyler (Amanda) Young; grandchildren, Lindsay, Alan, Nathan, Andrew, Trevor (Miranda), Bryce, Connor, Aryssa, Austin, and Liam; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Azalea, and Braxton; and sisters, Lee Hein, Carla Routhiaux, Lou Swenty, and Simone (Glenn) Woulf. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Richard “Dick” Simono and Marie Johnson, and other loved ones.
Visitation for Patti will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a Mass of Christian burial following at noon, all at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will be officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Hodag Banquet Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may made out to the Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, a cause close to the family’s heart.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Senior Hearts Home Care, especially Samantha, for their loving care and support during this time.
Condolences may be shared at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home, 715-369-1414, is serving the family.
