RHS Sports recap: Monday, Sept. 8
Boys’ soccer: Mosinee 8, Rhinelander 0
Shawn Sowadski scored four times and added an assist as Mosinee defeated Rhinelander 8-0 in 60 minutes Monday in a GNC boys’ soccer match at Mike Webster Stadium.
Sowadski had Mosinee’s first three goals and the Indianas built a 4-0 lead by halftime. Mosinee tacked on three more goals in the first nine minutes of the second half and added one more in the 53rd minute.
Despite the scoreline, statistics were fairly event, with Mosinee possessing a slight 20-18 edge in total shots and an 12-9 edge in shots on goal. Caden Ehrhardt made four saves in the loss.
Rhinelander (0-5-0, 0-2-0-0 Great Northern) travels to Medford on Thursday.
Girls’ golf: Rhinelander T3rd/8, Stevens Point Invite
The RHS girls’ golf team shot 221 and tied for third in an eight-team JV invite hosted by Stevens Point Monday at Wisconsin River G.C.
Senior Nevaeh Anderson made birdie on the par-5 ninth hole to shoot 45 and claim medalist honors by a stroke over Wausau East/West’s Ruby Thurs. Karlie Yunkers placed 10th on the day with a 56, Claire Yunkers shot 59, Ella Miljevich had a 61 and Hayley Schiek shot 64.
The Hodags return to action Sept. 15 at Amherst.
