Skateboard Art Auction to kick off fundraising for Rhinelander Skatepark

A brand-new, professional concrete skatepark is coming to Rhinelander’s Hodag Park — and the community is invited to help make it happen. On Saturday, Sept. 13, ArtStart will host a fundraising event that combines art, music, skateboarding, and mental health advocacy, with all proceeds going directly toward building the Rhinelander Skatepark. The event is called PUSH for connection and it will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 13 outside ArtStart at 68 S. Stevens Street in Rhinelander.

The Rhinelander Skatepark Project was initiated by local youth who envisioned a safe, inclusive space for connection. To celebrate their vision, local artists have transformed blank skateboard decks into original works of art, which will be featured in a Skateboard Art Auction. 

Alongside the auction, the event will feature: a community art activity, live music by Another Stupid Summer, pop-up skate jam, 988 crisis lifeline photo booth, and mental health resource tables.

“From the very beginning, this project has been about more than a skatepark — it’s about creating a place where people feel supported, seen, and connected,” said Melinda Childs, community cultural development director at ArtStart.

The skatepark design, created in partnership with Hunger Skateparks after extensive community input, ensures the facility will be accessible to people of all ages, skill levels, and action sports. The project is a collaboration between ArtStart, the city of Rhinelander, local action sports group Over It, and community partners.
