Marvin Stanley Labecki, known as Marv, passed away on August 23, 2025, in Bradenton, Fla., after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Born on January 1, 1943, in Milwaukee, Marv’s unwavering dedication to his family and community marked the 82 years of his well-lived life.
He attended Bay View High School where he met his wife, Nancy. They married on February 2, 1963. He furthered his education at Milwaukee Area Technical College. He had a distinguished 35-year career with the Milwaukee Police Department. He rose to the rank of sergeant in 1974. The MPD sent him to the FBI National Academy in Quantico. He spent his final years of his career at the MPD academy.
After his retirement, Marv was an instructor at MATC. He also worked at Summerfest, where he and Nancy served as security.
Since his high school days, he cherished the time spent at Long Lake near Rhinelander. In 1966, Marv and Nancy bought a lot on Long Lake and built their cabin in 1971. This cabin became a haven for fishing, canoeing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, pontooning, splitting wood and countless family memories. The cabin saw expansions and renovations, reflecting the growing love and laughter that filled its walls.
In 2005, Marv and Nancy moved to the cabin, welcoming many friends, and family members to share in their slice of paradise. Marv and Nancy spent his final year surrounded by the warmth of Florida, his loved ones and snowbird friends.
Marv is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (Dedynski) Labecki; his sons, Jay (Marlin), Wade, and Timothy (Ken) Labecki; his cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense joy in his later years, Nathan (Coryn) Labecki, Maddie (Miguel) Delrio, and Jessica Labecki; as well as his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Wren.
