Oneida County Pasture walk scheduled for Sept. 10
The Oneida County land and water conservation department, partnering with the National Fish and Wildlife Federation, Golden Sands RC&D and Grass Works, Inc. will hold a pasture walk from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The walk will take place at Hanson’s Garden Village in Rhinelander.
Attendees will learn about grass-fed beef production taking place at Hanson’s and the benefits of managed grazing and best management practices for conservation. Attendees will also learn about resources and programs for graziers and other agricultural producers, both large and small.
The event is free and refreshments will be provided, including locally produced foods and goat cheeses. The walk also includes a wagon ride tour of the pasture and viewing of the highland cattle as well as special speakers on dairy goats and beekeeping. Homesteaders, farmers and anyone else interested in local agriculture and grazing are welcome to attend.
Hanson’s Garden Village, located at 2660 County Road G near Rhinelander is family friendly and features a two-acre corn maze and playground.
