Laurie Eve (Bombagi) Olds, 78, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. Laurie was born on December 15, 1946, to John and Dorothy Bombagi in Wausau. She graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1965.
On March 30, 1968, Laurie married the love of her life, Alan Lee Olds. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and family. In 1970, they moved to Sugar Camp, and the following year settled in Rhinelander, where they built their home along the Wisconsin River — a place that became the heart of countless family memories.
Laurie is survived by her daughter Linda (Tom) Fox; grandchildren Jon, Scott, and Tim Fox; Zachary (Brianna) Olds; Andrea (Eric) Grulke; and Nathan Olds; and siblings Nancy (Mark) Wipperfurth and Gary Bombagi. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Andrew Olds (2021), her brothers William (1989) and Jeffrey Bombagi (1989), and her parents John and Dorothy Bombagi.
Laurie was known for her bright smile, caring heart, and thoughtful nature. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life — snowmobiling, boating, and bowling — and took special delight in feeding the birds, squirrels, and deer that visited her yard. A talented knitter, she created many handmade treasures for those she loved.
Laurie and Alan enjoyed many adventures together, including memorable trips to Las Vegas and 12 wonderful winters as snowbirds in Orange Beach, Ala.— where Laurie developed a fondness for the local gumbo and the friendships she made there. Above all, Laurie cherished time with her family. Her grandchildren’s sleepovers were her greatest joy, and her love for them will be felt forever.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Aspirus Hospice Team — especially Nurse Jen, Michelle, Sarah, and Nurse Jeanie — for their exceptional compassion, care, and kindness over the past 16 months. Their support brought great comfort to Laurie and her family.
Laurie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and remembered always for her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit.
Visitation for Laurie will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 9 to 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial following at 11 a.m., all at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will be officiating. A complete notice will follow, A memorial is being established in Laurie’s name and any gifts may be directed to her family.
