RHS Sports recap: Monday, Oct. 13


Volleyball: Rhinelander 3, Hurley 2


The Rhinelander High School volleyball team ended the regular season on a high note Monday night, holding of Hurley in five sets 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 15-9 in a non-conference match at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium. 


The Hodags broke open an 8-7 set in the fifth, ending the match on a 7-2 run to pick up the team’s first win since Sept. 29, snapping an eight-match losing streak. 


Olivia Ruetz led the Hodags with 12 kills while Ellie Cummings and Corynn Waksmonski had seven each. Kylie Treder had 17 assists, Kayla Skubal had 24 digs and Tori Stella had nine service aces.


Rhinelander (3-32, 0-10 Great Northern) will travel to Mauston next Tuesday for the first round of the WIAA tournament.
