RHS Sports recap: Monday, Oct. 6

Girls’ tennis: Rhinelander T4th/9, WIAA Subsectionals

The Rhinelander High School girls’ tennis team advanced two flights through to sectionals during a WIAA Division 1 subsection on Wausau on Monday. 

Maddie Legrey and Teagan Turcotte were straight-set winners in their only match of the day at No. 1 doubles to advance while Lucy Evers, the top seed in the No. 4 singles draw, won both of her matches to advance. 

The Nos. 2 and 3 doubles teams of Eva Heck and Willow VanDenHevuel and Willow Mutter and Addy Currie both won their opening matches on Monday, but lost their second and were eliminated from the postseason. Annie Vander Galien, Jordan Manske and Taylor McKinney lost their opening matches in the top three singles flights. 

Sectionals will take place Wednesday in Eau Claire.
