RHS Sports recap: Thursday, Oct. 2
Boys’ soccer: Mosinee 3, Rhinelander 0
The RHS boys’ soccer team fell at Mosinee 3-0 on Thursday. The Hodags trailed 2-0 at halftime and conceded one more goal int he second half.
Shots were 20-6 in favor of Mosinee. Eric Parish made five saves in the loss.
Rhinelander (0-11-2, 0-7-1-0 Great Northern) faces Medford on Tuesday.
Volleyball: Medford 3, Rhinelander 0
The RHS volleyball team fell at Medford in straight sets Thursday, losing to the Raiders 25-12, 25-13, 25-13.
With Olivia Ruetz (illness) and Kylie Treder (knee) out of the lineup, JV call-up Ellie Cummings led the Hodags with four kills. Addy Wiczek had five assists. Maddie Paulson had 10 digs, Mady Treder had three blocks and Cassidy Lindner had the team’s lone service ace.
Rhinelander (2-28, 0-6 Great Northern) hosts Merrill on Tuesday.
Girls’ swimming: Rhinelander 134, Ladysmith 27
The Rhinelander High School girls’ swim team won all 11 events and defeated Ladysmith in 134-27 in a GNC dual meet on the road Thursday.
Kiley Pooch was a four-event winner for Rhinelander, taking the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 backstroke individually. She was also on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays squads.
Emma Houg won the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke in a three-win night. June Chiamulera won the 200 freestyle, Vivian Lamers took the 50 freestyle, Rylee Mickevicius claimed the 100 freestyle and Millie Gruett won the 500 freestyle for the Hodags.
Rhinelander is back in action Saturday at the Fond du Lac Invite.
Cross country: RHS boys 1st/4, girls 2nd/4, Medford Invite
The Hodag boys cross country team had five of the top seven finishers Thursday as it won the four-team Medford Invite.
Avrom Barr took the boys’ race, winning with a time of 18 minutes, 5.15 seconds. Jackson Weizatl was third, Grant Gremban finished fifth, Jonathan Campbell was sixth and Michael Brunette took seventh for the Hodags.
Rhinelander was second in the girls’ race. Macy Myers and Kara Monk finished on the podium for the Hodags, taking second and third respectively.
The Hodags travel to Eagle River this coming Tuesday for the Northland Pines Invite.
