Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 81, Wausau West 40
The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team pulled away from Wausau West in the second half and defeated the Warriors 81-40 Saturday in the second day of the Tom Kislow Memorial Tournament in Medford.
Rhinelander missed its first nine 3-point attempts and was tied with West 11-11 with 4:32 left in the first half. The Hodags ended the half on a 17-8 run and then outscored the Warriors 53-21 in the second half, shooting 72% from the field over the final 18 minutes.
Teagan Clark had a career-high 36 points to lead all scorers. Vivian Lamers added 22 and Aubryn Clark scored 13 for Rhinelander, which finished the day an even 50% (36 of 72) from the field. Olivia Colwell paced Wausau West with 10 points as the Warriors were held to 33% shooting (15 of 40).
Rhinelander (2-1, 0-0 Great Northern) will host Mosinee Tuesday to open Great Northern Conference play at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.
