Girls’ basketball: Eau Claire Regis 76, Rhinelander 55
The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team could not keep up with No. 1 (D4) Eau Claire Regis, falling to the Ramblers 76-55 in the first day of the Tom Kislow Memorial Tournament Friday in Medford.
The Ramblers opened the game on a 26-7 run and played with a sizable the rest of the day. Regis lead 42-21 at half and by as many as 28 points in the second half.
Aubryn Clark scored a game-high 37 points for Rhinelander, but needed 37 shot attempts as the Hodags finished the day 31% (19 of 61) from the field. Teagan Clark and Vivian Lamers scored five each for Rhinelander. Teagan Clark had foul trouble much of the game and fouled out early in the second half.
EllaMay Cooper finished 19 of 20 from the foul line and led four Ramblers in double figures with 34 points. Evelyn Borcherding had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Regis, which shot 59% (26 of 44) in the contest.
Rhinelander (1-1, 0-0 Great Northern) faces Wausau West on Saturday in the final day of the Kislow Memorial in Medford.
