Gratitude for music fest fundraiser success
To the Editor:
On Nov. 9 the Northwoods community gathered to enjoy 75 talented area volunteer performers for the 4th Annual Joyful Song Ecumenical Music Fest. Those of us who had spent months organizing this fundraiser set a seemingly unattainable goal of $10,000 to support three area nonprofits in an effort to fight domestic violence, mental illness, and poverty. (The 2024 Fest raised $3000.)
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of attendees and participants who reached deep into their pockets to contribute $16,500, which was then augmented with $4,500 in GBU Life matching funds and $900 of GBU Life One Hour at a Time donations. All told, $21,600 will be divided among Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault; National Alliance on Mental Illness Northern Lakes (NAMI); and Area Churches for Emergency Support (ACES). This money will support their lifesaving services right here in the Northwoods.
In a turbulent time, when so many are just getting by and are fearful about tomorrow, an estimated 425 attendees at this event reaffirmed faith, love, and grace with their selfless generosity. This is a tangible reminder of the basic goodness and care Northwoods residents show for one another. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all who donated their time, talent, and treasure to better our corner of the world.
