An open letter to Congressman Tiffany
To the Editor:
The United States has a terrible health care system. Compared to other developed countries, we don’t live as long, infant and maternal mortality rates are higher ... the list goes on. For these abysmal results, we pay twice as much per citizen as any other country.
I agree the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is an expensive band-aid. President Trump is right: Obama care must be replaced. But the Democrats are right in that the ACA, Medicare and Medicaid “band-aid should not be ripped off until Congress replaces the ACA with the Republican/Trump health care system providing cheaper basic medical care for every citizen, as Trump promised.
In response to my last communication on this issue you stated: “If Congress were to extend these enhanced subsides past 2025, the federal deficit could increase by $5 trillion. I believe balancing our federal budget and expanding health care choices are not mutually exclusive goals, and we should find ways to do both.” The One Big Beautiful Bill Act increased federal debt and cut health care!
In announcing you are running for Wisconsin governor, you stated: “I will take on the powerful, stand for the commonsense values we share.... We have a national interest in a healthy American work force. We Republicans promised to make health care cheaper and affordable for all Americans. Please, keep Medicare, Medicaid and ACA funded until Congress passes Trump’s plan slashing costs while Making America Healthy.”
Now is the time for action. Show that you, Tom Tiffany, are the leader who can bring the President and Congress together and take on big pharma, big health care companies and big health insurance companies. Pass the Republican plan to Make America Healthy.
Compromise is a sign of strength. Our great constitution was compromise after compromise — one of the reasons it is great. Your leadership in bringing our divided country together and getting government running again will show you are the best choice for Wisconsin’s next governor.
