Community support boosts Rhinelander High School travel fundraisers

The Rhinelander High School World Languages Department is expressing gratitude to the local community for its support of upcoming international student travel opportunities, according to a department press release.

Fundraising efforts are underway for two trips abroad — to Spain in 2026 and Germany in 2027 — and recent events have contributed significantly.

On Oct. 18, the department hosted its first annual mattress sale, raising more than $6,500 through the sale of 35 mattresses. On Oct. 31, several students assisted with the Halloween Extravaganza at Hildebrand Funeral Home, where Andrea and Tom Kniewel matched donations, bringing the total contribution to $1,200.

“We are so fortunate to live and work in a community that supports our young people and helps open doors for them to experience the world,” said Steve Geiger, German teacher at Rhinelander High School.

The department appreciates continued support for these educational travel experiences.
