Winter parking ban goes into effect Nov. 15
The Rhinelander Police Department last week reminded residents of the winter parking ban, which will be in effect from Nov. 15 through April 15, 2026. The ban is put in place to assist the public works department with snow removal efforts and failure to comply with the regulation can result in a citation and a $25 fine.
The regulation states that there is no parking on any city-maintained street, alleyway or public parking lot from 2 to 6 a.m. During all other times of the day, the “odd-even” parking rules apply. On odd numbered days (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc.), drivers are to park on the side of the street with businesses or dwellings with odd-numbered addresses. On even numbered days (2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.), drivers are to park on the side of the street with even-numbered addresses. There are some streets that are exempt from this odd-even parking restriction, however, Those are:
• Baird Avenue, from Court Park to Dahl Street;
• Court Park, from Oneida Avenue to Baird Avenue;
• Oneida Avenue, from Court Park to Dahl Street;
• Dahl Street, from Oneida Avenue to Baird Avenue;
• Keenan Street, commencing at its intersection with Kemp Street, and proceeding northerly 100 feet.
Should a snow emergency be declared by the mayor, police chief or director of public works, no parking of any vehicle where parking would be otherwise allowed. For more information on the winter parking regulations, see the city website at rhinelanderwi.us.
