Boys’ tennis: Rhinelander at WIAA Sectionals

The Rhinelander High School boys’ tennis team dropped all five of its matches Wednesday at a WIAA Division 1 sectional in Eau Claire. 

Aiden Ostermann and Michael Schiek were blanked 6-0, 6-0 by Hudson’s Chase Berning and Andrew Colianni in the quarterfinals at No. 1 doubles, with an automatic berth to state on the line. The No. 2 doubles team of Payton McCue and Karter Massey, and the No. 3 doubles of Hart Hokens and Van Tulowitzky suffered similar fates. Both teams dropped their first match in straight sets and then lost their third-place matches in match tiebreakers after winning the opening set. 

Barring a special exemption to the WIAA state tournament, the losses ended the season for the Hodag tennis team.
