Bruce Erick Kohn, of Rhinelander, passed away on May 22, 2025, at 80, after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He grew up in Cloquet, Minn., and attended the University of Minnesota, receiving his master’s degree in wildlife biology and forestry. He served the DNR for over 30 years as a research biologist. His research papers formulate the management principles that control the Wisconsin black bear.
He was assigned research projects on many wildlife species including deer, otter, fisher, pine marten, wolves, beaver and bobcat. Bruce loved to hunt and fish and just had his 34th sobriety anniversary.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Lorrie; stepdaughters, Sherry (Tom) Shimek-Lannoy, DVM, Stephanie (Greg) Vosseteig; and two nephews, Mike Kohn and Steve Kohn.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
