Girls’ soccer: Rhinelander 9, Antigo 0

Vivian Lamers scored four times and Sophie Miljevich added a hat trick as the Rhinelander High School girls’ soccer team pulled away for a 9-0 win over Antigo Tuesday at Mike Webster Stadium.

The Hodags didn’t score until Miljevich’s first strike in the 20th minute, but then got one more goal from her and scores from Kiley Pooch and Alexis Smith to take a 4-0 lead to halftime. Lamers scored all four of her goals in the second half and Miljevich finished off her hat trick in the 55th minute.

Rhinelander outshot Antigo 43-1 in the game. Emalee Detienne did not face a shot on goal in the shutout win.

The Hodags (11-4-0, 8-0-0-0 Great Northern) can clinch a share of the GNC title on Thursday with a regulation win over Northland Pines in Eagle River.

Softball: Mosinee 16, Rhinelander 0

The Rhinelander High School softball team spotted GNC-champion Mosinee 10 runs in the first inning as it lost its regular season finale 16-0 Tuesday at Andrea Musson Field.

Despite the early onslaught, the Hodags were able to take it to five innings with Mosinee, holding them to just two runs total between the second and fourth innings.

Kendall Vanney took the loss for Rhinelander, allowing 10 runs on nine hits over two different stints that spanned three innings. She also recorded the Hodags’ lone hit — a one-out single in the fourth.

Rhinelander (5-15, 2-10 Great Northern) travels to Waupaca Thursday to open the WIAA tournament.
