Patricia Ann Barber (née Isley) of Rhinelander, passed away on May 13, 2025, at 92. Born on March 28, 1933, in Cassian, Patricia lived a life of resilience, dedication, and deep care for those around her.
Growing up in Cassian, Patricia attended Cassian Elementary School. Later in life, with characteristic determination and strength of spirit, she returned to school to earn her GED and continued her education at Nicolet College. This commitment to lifelong learning reflected the tenacity that defined much of Patricia’s journey.
Throughout the years, Patricia held numerous jobs that showcased her tireless work ethic and adaptability. From cleaning homes and banks to working at Peterson Healthcare, where she eventually retired, Patricia approached every role with diligence and pride. Her career was not just a means of livelihood but a testament to her unwavering sense of responsibility and perseverance.
Family was always at the heart of Patricia’s life. She was a devoted parent to Dennis (Susan) Barber, Jeanne (Ken) Claflin, James Barber, and the late Susan Feight. Patricia also cherished her role as a grandparent to Erica Barber Moore, Jasmine (Curt) Baker, Mandy (Kian) Williams, Jason (Sarah) Barber, Shelby Feight, and Joseph (Melissa) Barber. Her great-grandchildren include Zoey (Luke) Durkee, Zackary Baker, Aaliyah Carland, Ziana Williams, Cheyenne Williams, Michael Goller, and Abigail Barber. Her legacy continues through one great-great-grandchild, Nashton Durkee, and many extended family members who carry forward memories of love and shared moments.
Patricia is also remembered by her siblings: brother Leroy Isley and sister Beverly Jaworski. She was preceded in death by sisters Lilian Sanders and Shirley Gee; brothers Cortes Isley and Webb Isley; and parents Matilda and Dale Isley; and her beloved spouse, Clifford Barber.
Beyond work and family responsibilities, Patricia enjoyed watching classic movies, Wheel of Fortune, and was also a Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan. She loved taking trips — especially those that included stops at the casino — and enjoyed reading mystery novels that sparked curiosity and imagination. Dining out was another favorite pastime, often shared with friends or family over good food and conversation.
Patricia’s home was always open to those she loved. Whether helping raise grandchildren or offering support during difficult times. She made everyone feel special and remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, and there were many holiday celebrations and dinners to be had throughout the years. Her warmth left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
May Patricia Ann Barber’s memory comfort those who knew her and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with strength, compassion, and enduring love.
