5th Annual Hodag Heritage Festival this weekend

Rhinelander’s most legendary celebration returns for its fifth year on Saturday, May 17. A full day of events will take place at Pioneer Park, including a pancake breakfast by the VFW, kids’ bounce house and activities, exhibitors, a Hodag Quest, guest speakers, food and beer vendors, a Hodag art show, Hodag historical bus tours, the ever-famous Hodag Calling Contest, and live music from The Third Wheels and The Prince and the Peach.

In the days leading up to the festival, there are even more ways for Hodag fans to celebrate. On Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m., the public is invited to a special ticketed showing of “Attack of the Hodag” with film director Bill Rebane at The Hilgermann Center for Community.

Also available throughout Hodag Heritage Week (May 11–17) is the All Things Hodag List, featuring a wide selection of Hodag-themed items from local businesses — many of which are only offered during this special week. Pick up your list at the chamber or the Hodag Store.

“This event continues to grow every year. We’ve doubled our number of exhibitors since last year and added a new and exciting Hodag Quest, among other things,” said Rachel Boehlen, chamber director of events and strategic initiatives. “There’s something for everyone, and we invite the entire community to come celebrate our Hodag!”
