Vernon Albert Slack “Bozo” was born on March 9, 1958, in the town of Rhinelander, to Naomi Beatrice Slack (Williams) and Vernon Leroy Slack.
He met his wife, Linda Ann Wells of 49 years at Little Rock Bar in 1975. They first moved in together in September of 1976, and then married on February 12, 1978. Linda and Vernon shared two daughters, Sabrina and Charlene who he loved unconditionally.
Vernon loved listening to country music, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, festivals, events, gatherings, and traveling to see family. Vernon always worked hard to take care of his family. To just name a few, Vernon had been employed at Holiday Acres, Hackers Sawmill where he lost his hand in a saw accident in 1985, Friendly Village, he later transferred across the street to Taylor Park and eventually retired from Headwaters in 2017.
After retiring, Vernon enjoyed watching T.V., spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Slack, two daughters, Sabrina (Grant) Gleesing, of Rhinelander, Charlene Slack, of Rhinelander, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 15 nieces, 13 nephews, as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Slack, father, Vernon Slack, two brothers, Charles Slack, and Kenneth Slack, three sisters, Katherine Shaver, Naomi Reinke, and Josephine Shaver, one great-granddaughter, Natilynn Kugel, two nieces, Tina Reinke and Anniebell Washington.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 3, at the Pine Lake Town Hall.
