RHS alum DeMeyer named UW-River Falls women’s athlete of the week
Addi DeMeyer, a 2023 graduate of Rhinelander High School, has been named the University of Wisconsin-River Falls women’s athlete of the week for the week of March 17-23.
According to a post from the university DeMeyer, a sophomore on the UWRF softball team, helped lead the Falcons to a 6-2 record during the final week of their spring break trip in Florida. She went 10 for 17 (.588 avg.) at the plate, collecting hits in seven of the eight contests during the wee. She batted in six runs, scored seven runs, and notched four doubles. She was 3-for-4 with four runs scored against Manchester on March 22.
DeMeyer is in the midst of a breakout season for the Falcons. After hitting just .179 went one RBI as a freshman, she’s currently batting .542 with six doubles and seven RBIs through the Falcon’s first 18 games. Though DeMeyer was primarily a pitcher for the Hodags, she has made eight starts for River Falls this season at the middle infield position — second base and shortstop.
The Falcons (11-7) are slated for four more non-conference doubleheaders before opening WIAC play with a twinbill at UW-Platteville April 12.
