Rhinelander to end running water order today
Rhinelander has announced that the “Running Water Order” that was issued for certain water customers within the city will end, effective March 21. The city’s water utility has observed that frost has released from the ground in the affected service areas, to the point that it is no longer an issue for water services.
“When the frost reaches a certain level during cold winters, we may issue running water orders to certain residents who live in known negatively affected areas, to help prevent the system from freezing up,” said water department foreman Tom Roeser.” This expiring running water order was initially issued on January 27.
Water credits for customers who were advised to run their water will end on March 21.
“We really appreciate the cooperation from the affected residents,” said Roeser. “We also appreciate the conservation of water used by the utility customers to achieve the goal of frost-free operations.”
