Youth club bowlers compete in D9 singles tournament
A number of bowlers from the Rhinelander Area Youth Bowling Club took part in the WiHSBC District 9 singles tournament held Feb. 28 to March 2 at North Star Lanes in Antigo. Results from the tournament were finally announced by District 9 on Monday.
Of the 13 bowlers who competed for the Hodags, only one placed high enough to earn scholarship money from the district. That was junior Jackson Fuss, who placed second in Division E with a four-game series of 681 pins. Bowlers were flighted into division based on their season-long Baker Equivalency Rating, or fill percentage in the case of middle school bowlers.
“Jackson Fuss bowled out of his mind and was the only Rhinelander bowler to walk away with some money in his SMART account,” coach Cory Dellenbach noted. “Antigo seems to be a tough place for many of our bowlers to bowl at, but Jackson didn't have any issues at all. Proud of how he did.”
Oren Alsager barely missed out on the money in Division B, placing sixth with a series of 795. The top five earned scholarship dollars in that flight. Alex Hall (786) was 10th and Dominic Hakala was 13th (778).
Addison Habeck (590) and Brighton Walkowski (553) were 16th and 19th, respectively, in Division D. Charlotte Preuss (613) tied for eighth in Division E while Alyssa Habeck (563) was 12th and Silas Johnson (545) took 15th.
Xane Kallio (437), Logan Johnson (411) and Katrina Roof (409) were 27th, 30th and 31st, respectively in Division F. Based on her middle school fill percentage, Natalie Dellenbach was grouped in Division A against the top bowlers in D9. She finished 27th in the division, but eighth among middle school bowlers, with a 568 series.
