Call for artists: Rhinelander skatepark mural project
Are you a visual artist who lives or works in Wisconsin’s Northwoods? ArtStart Rhinelander and the City of Rhinelander are seeking three visual artists (or artist teams) to create digital murals for the future Rhinelander Skatepark. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant public art project and leave a lasting mark on the community.
Artists residing in Rhinelander and Wisconsin’s Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, and Vilas counties will be given priority consideration. Non-residents may apply but must describe their connection to the Northwoods. No previous graphic design experience is required—graphic design support will be provided to ensure designs are press-ready.
An informational meeting will be March 20 at 5 p.m. This is not required, but is encouraged.
A required hybrid meeting will be the week of April 28, with date and time yet to be decided still.
A mural celebration event will be on Saturday, June 22.
Six artists (or teams of artists) will each receive a $150 stipend to develop a concept sketch.
Three selected artists (or teams) will receive a $1,500 stipend to complete their digital mural designs. Printing and installation costs are covered by ArtStart.
This project is a unique opportunity for local artists to showcase work in a high-visibility public space while contributing to cultural vibrancy of Rhinelander.
