RSC places 2nd at CWSC championship
The Rhinelander Swim Club (RSC) wrapped up another successful season in early February placing second at the Central Wisconsin Swim Conference (CWSC) Championship in Tomahawk. RSC competed against 13 other teams from across the Northwoods. All of the RSC swimmers qualified to swim in at least one event at the championships.
“For most of our season, our swimmers are competing for individual results, but at CWSC championships we get to compete as a team and showcase our talent,” RSC head coach Megan Chila said. “In club we focus on learning competitive swimming but we also emphasize sportsmanship, accountability, and teamwork. Swimming is a combination sport of individual and team events where you get to compete against yourself and compete as a team.”
The club begins the regular season in mid-October and includes swimmers from ages 5 through 18.
After CWSC Championships, nearly 20 swimmers extended their season to compete in regional championships in Ashwaubenon Feb. 21-23.
Thirteen swimmers qualified to compete at state championships held in Verona, Pleasant Prairie, or Brown Deer — depending on the age group. Stella Beach and Charlotte LeClair will continue to compete through early April after qualifying for the East Coast Elite national swim competition in St. Petersburg, Fla.
