Man seriously injured in rollover crash in Nokomis
A Rhinelander man was injured as the result of the rollover crash of his vehicle on Wednesday, June 18.
According to a press release from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the dispatch center received multiple calls at 8:37 p.m. reporting a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of County Highway K and Mitchell Lane in Nokomis.
The press release stated the initial investigation showed that a westbound 1986 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Gabriel M. Wallmow, was on Hwy. K.
The Corvette, according to witnesses who told authorities they’d been passed by the vehicle, said it “was traveling at a high rate of speed.”
The press said the vehicle’s driver lost control of the vehicle and it entered the north ditch and went airborne and then rolled several times.
Wallmow was ejected during the crash.
“Wallmow was transported by Oneida County ambulance to Tomahawk Aspirus Hospital, and later flown to Aspirus Wausau Hospital by LifeLink III helicopter,” the press release said.
The investigation is ongoing and the accident report will be completed by the Wisconsin State Patrol with the assistance of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
