Oneida County Sheriff’s Office to hold annual swim challenge fundraiser Saturday
On June 21, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Dive Team will host their annual fundraising event, The Minocqua Island Swim Challenge.
The Lakeland Breakfast Rotary Club will co-host the event, either a one-mile or 400-meter open water swim starting at Torpy Park in Minocqua. The race is open to all ages and abilities and will be supported by volunteers from the Minocqua/Kawagesaga Lakes Protection Association, Minocqua Fire and Rescue Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team, Oneida County Public Safety Dive Team, and many community volunteers.
Generous event sponsors include Boyd Financial Services, Lakeland Fitness & Golf, Aspirus Health, St. Matthias Thrift Shop, T & M Towing and Repair, Woodruff Ace Hardware, Heck Capital Advisors, Hazelhurst Lions Club, Lakeland Lumber & Hardware, Dave and Deans Quality Tire, Rhinelander Auto Group, Rhinelander Collision, Kurt’s Island Sport Shop.
Swimmers must pre-register online through Race Roster, the event Facebook page, or through Tortoise and Hare Timing. Online registration closes at noon on June 19. In person sign-up will be on Friday, June 20, 5 until 7 p.m. at Torpy Park. There will be no race day sign up.
