Will Nicoletti, 48, Sugar Camp, was arrested on June 5 after it was reported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office he had been volunteering at an event put on by Sugar Camp Elementary School and was working with children four to 12 years old on June 4.

According to supplemental reports filed by law enforcement officers with the sheriff’s office, Nicoletti, who’s last name used to be Fanning, is a sex offender who “transferred from California.”

“Due to this transfer Will falls under the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program rules,” one of the supplemental reports says. “Some of these rules pertain to volunteer work that allows individuals to have direct contact with minors.”

In the supplemental reports, law enforcement officers explain they had been contacted by someone working for the Sugar Camp Elementary School saying Nicoletti showed up to an event and assisted his wife at an ax throwing station.

After checking with a corrections program specialist for the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program, one law enforcement officer, according to the supplemental reports, learned Nicoletti was restricted from volunteer work, especially volunteer work in direct correlation with minors.

The law enforcement officer was also made aware by the corrections program specialist Nicoletti had a Youtube channel with approximately 20 subscribers, 31 videos and 3,717 views that wasn’t reported to the state, and was another violation of the state Sex Offender Registry Program.

A worker with the school contacted the sheriff’s office based on their knowledge of Nicoletti’s involvement in the Sex Offender Registry Program, which, according to the supplemental reports, was reported by Nicoletti to the school previously.

Nicoletti had previously obtained approval to go to Sugar Camp Elementary School for functions.

“From my understanding it was very specific through the State of Wisconsin and through Sugar Camp Elementary School that Will was only allowed to attend events and not volunteer and/or work at these events,” one of the supplemental reports says.

Nicoletti was subsequently placed under arrest at his residence after a law enforcement officer explained to him he was in violation of the state sex offender registry program.

Nicoletti, according to the supplemental reports, said he created the Youtube account in December of 2024, and admitted to attending events at Sugar Camp Elementary School, but didn’t mention he volunteered there, though his going to the school was approved by the principal.

While one law enforcement officer was placing Nicoletti under arrest, Nicoletti, one supplemental report says, “kept stating that everything had happened 25 years ago and he did not understand why deputies were doing this.”

Court records show Oneida County judge Michael Schiek ordered a $2,500 signature bond for Nicoletti and an initial court appearance was scheduled in the case for June 30 at 2:30 p.m. He’s being charged with two felony counts of violating the state sex offender registry program and being a child sex offender who worked with children. If convicted, the charges carry combined maximum penalties of 18-and-a-half years in prison and $35,000 in fines.
