PHOTO: Special Olympians Compete at state

More than 1,200 athletes competed at the Summer Special Olympics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater June 5-7. 

Rhinelander Area 2-05 athletes competing at this year's state Track and Field events included Daray Hawes, left, and  Daniel Strutz. Hawes took sixth place in her division in the softball throw. Strutz was a state champion in the long jump and 100-meter dash. He also placed third in the 1,500-meter run.
