Local businesses ensure Minocqua fireworks tradition continues
The Greater Minocqua Area Visitors Bureau announced that local businesses and organizations have contributed $25,000 to fund this year’s Fourth of July fireworks display after the town of Minocqua said it could not support the event because of budget constraints.
A visitors bureau official said, “The skies over Minocqua will once again sparkle with red, white, and blue this Independence Day.” The official added that the display — a longtime summer highlight — “promises a breathtaking spectacle of color and sound” that will bring together families and neighbors to celebrate freedom and honor past sacrifices.
The fireworks will take place the evening of July 4 at Torpy Park (if you can see the water tower, you can see the fireworks display). The show is scheduled to begin when it is dark, and early arrival is encouraged.
The visitors bureau extended its thanks to Gage Marine; Minocqua Yacht Club; Minocqua Lions Club; Lakeland Fitness and Golf; and the Minocqua Island Business Association for making the event possible.
