The 1st Great Northern Highland Paddle & Portage in Plum Lake June 21
Get ready for an exhilarating day on the water and through the woods in this new event, the Great Northern Highland Paddle & Portage. This one-of-a-kind event challenges paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts to traverse the scenic beauty of Plum Lake and Star Lake, with a rugged portage in between.
Event details:
• Date: Saturday, June 21.
• Registration: 7 to 9 a.m. at Northern Highland Coffee Co., Sayner.
• Race start: 10 a.m. at town of Plum Lake fishing pier and boat ramp off of Plum Lake Drive.
• Finish line: Star Lake Old Mill Park.
The adventure begins with a 2-mile paddle on Plum Lake, followed by a 0.43-mile portage through the woods, before paddlers embark on a final 1.44-mile stretch across Star Lake to the finish line.
Whether you’re an experienced paddler or looking for a fun challenge, this event welcomes you.
The Great Northern Highland Paddle & Portage isn’t just a race; it’s an opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Northwoods while embracing the spirit of adventure.
Spectators are encouraged to cheer on participants along the course and celebrate at the finish line, where food, restrooms, and shelter will be available.
