Larry Ervin Schinke, 81, of the Town of Stella, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on Monday morning, June 2, 2025, at Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff.
Larry was born in Merrill, on April 14, 1944, to Ervin and Rose (Hoecherl) Schinke. He was raised in Rhinelander and was a 1963 graduate of Rhinelander High School. Larry met his future wife, Judith Keso in high school where they became sweethearts. They married on July 16, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and lived in Rhinelander. Larry began his 55-year career with Lassig Brothers Construction, retiring in 2018.
Larry enjoyed playing softball and played in many local softball leagues. He later umpired for the Lake Tomahawk Snowshoe Baseball League for several years.
Larry enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, bowling, dartball, deer hunting, camping and boating. He also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith, two daughters, Laurie (Greg) Farr of Green Bay, and Jennifer (Alex) Ott of Tomahawk, four grandchildren, Evan Farr, Nolan Farr (Annabelle Clausen), Collin Ott and Connor Ott, siblings, Helen Kuczmarski, Wilma Schinke (Mike Loka), Kathy (Pat) Mc Donald, Rose Lundberg, Pete (Amy) Schinke, and brother-in-law, Alan Kraetsch. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Russell Schinke, sisters, Mary Ann (Duane) Huebner, Caroline Kraetsch, Margaret (Ronnie) Olson, and Gail Schinke and a brother-in-law, Conrad Lundberg.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons of Life especially his nurse Megan and CNA Gabbie for their excellent care and compassion. Please leave your condolences on this site for the family. A private family service will be held at a later date.
