Update on Messer Street construction
The city of Rhinelander has released the work schedule for the Messer Street project for this week, Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25. Contractors report that Thayer Street will be closed from Rose Street through the Mason intersection. Traffic should follow the Mason Street detour. Rose Street will be open for boat landing traffic from Thayer Street to Evergreen. This will allow boaters access to the boat landing and parking for vehicles with trailers at the Hodag Park landing.
Contractor work will continue on this project with new concrete sidewalk installation and topsoil restoration on Rose Street from Lakeshore to Thayer.
Messer Street from Rose Street to Hodag Park Drive will remain closed, with no through traffic. New concrete sidewalk and topsoil restoration work will be taking place this week here as well.
Messer Street from Rose Street to Doyle Street will also be closed to through traffic. Construction of sewer and water services will be taking place here.
Fremont Street from Messer to Thayer will also be open to local traffic only. Work taking place here will include new concrete sidewalks and new road gravel construction.
Hodag Park Drive from Messer Street to Thayer Street will be open this week to local traffic only, also. New concrete sidewalks will be being installed and construction will begin on new road gravel.
Hodag Park Drive from Messer Street to Hodag Park will also be open only to local traffic. Here, new sidewalks will be installed and topsoil restoration work will continue.
Evergreen Court from Rose Street to Doyle Street will be open to local traffic only. Here, crews will be removing existing asphalt pavement as well as concrete curb and gutter.
Crews will be working Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All work is weather dependent, and this schedule may change based on those conditions.
