Dean F. Kuckkahn, 86, of Rhinelander, died on July 14, 2025, in Rhinelander. He was born on July 9, 1939 in Watertown, the son of William and Effie (Larson) Kuckkahn. After his schooling he served with the U.S. Marine Corp in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the states and was employed as a sheriff’s deputy in San Bernardino, California. He then relocated to the Rhinelander area and was employed by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy, attaining the rank of Seargent. He also worked as a private investigator for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement in 1989.
Dean married Susan Jivery (Kahara) on June 25,1978 and they were blessed with 47 years of marriage. Together they were longtime members of the St. Mark Lutheran Church. They also owned and operated the Triple K Ranch for many years.
Dean is survived by his wife Susan, his daughters Debra Zimbler and Tammy Jivery, his sons Daniel (Wendy) Kuckkahn and Dean (Sheila) Kuckkahn. Eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his sisters Sandra Kuckkahn, Judy (Tim) Larabell and Maureen Dealeiden, his brothers Dale and Greg Kuckkahn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathy and his brothers William and Neil.
Visitation for Dean will be held on Wednesday, July 23, from 9:30 to 11 a.m, with memorial services following at 11 a.m. all at the St. Mark Lutheran Church. Reverend Richard Miller will be officiating. Interment will be in the Northwoods National Cemetery at a later date.
