Rhinelander cruised to victory in its final Northwoods Babe Ruth Prep League game of the season, defeating Eagle River 15-5 in five innings Wednesday at Stafford Field.

After spotting the Eagles a 2-0 lead, the Hodags got a run back in the bottom of the second inning, took the leaf got good with eight runs in the third and added to it with five in the fourth before Collin Jorata’s ground ball plated Finn Brown for the clinching run in the fifth. 

The Hodags had seven hits in the contest — all in the big third and fourth innings. Ben Gehrmann was hit by a pitch and scored a run in the second inning. 

Mason Hauser walked and Brayden Herrmann singled to start Rhinelander’s rally in the third. After Emmitt Webster drew a walk, Parker Lee reached on an error and Ben Rexford added a single. All five batters eventually scored, along with Jaxon West (walk), Landon Woods (hit by pitch) and Carter Bell (double). 

Micah Sieker, Herrmann and Webster all walked and scored in the fourth. Hauser and Lee came across after reaching on singles. 

Rexford finished with two hits in the game and the Hodags also got hits from Bell, Brown, Hauser, Herrmann and Lee.

Rexford pitched two innings in the contest, giving up two runs on two hits with three strikeouts. Bell worked two innings of relief and picked up the winning, giving up three runs on a hit with four walks and two strikeouts. Jaxon West worked around a walk and a hit batter and struck out one in a scoreless fifth inning.
