Sherry Lee Fish, 75, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025. She was born on May 20, 1950, in Rhinelander, to Elmer and Raeburn Mathews. Sherry was a graduate of Rhinelander High School, Class of 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Donald Fish, on June 21, 1969, and together they built a life full of love, laughter and adventure.

Sherry dedicated nearly 40 years of her professional life to Nicolet College, where she was known for her dedication, warmth and unwavering work ethic. But her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who never missed a moment — especially when it came to her daughters’ sporting events and performances.

Sherry always ensured Christmas was magical — a tradition her family will carry on in her honor.

Summers were for adventure, and Sherry was the mastermind behind countless unforgettable family vacations. From road trips to the beach or to visit relatives, she planned every detail with love and excitement. Later in life, she and Gary embraced their love of travel, wintering on South Padre Island, Texas, and exploring the world together — including memorable trips to South Africa and Guatemala.

Sherry is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Gary; her daughters, Shannon Udler (Cory Udler) of Surf City, N.C. and Jody Peters (Phil Peters) of Eau Claire; and her treasured grandchildren, Adelaide Udler, Camryn Peters and Maddox Peters. She is also survived by her brothers Ronald (Jean) Mathews, Neal “Ned” Mathews and Glen (Julie) Mathews, all of Rhinelander. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sherry’s life was a beautiful journey — one filled with love, laughter and unforgettable memories. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation for Sherry will be held on Tuesday, July 8, from 9 to 11 a.m. with memorial services following at 11 a.m., all at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverend Karl Schultz will officiate. Interment will follow in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Fish family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home, 715-369-1414, is serving the Fish family.
