A Rhinelander man was arrested on June 24 for allegedly approaching a woman in the public with his genitals exposed and touching her inappropriately.
According to the arrest report by the Rhinelander Police Department, Oneida County Dispatch received a 911 call on June 24 at approximately 1:45 p.m., reporting a man in his early 30s with reddish, blonde hair and wearing a red shirt and black shorts approached the female caller with his “penis out in plain view.”
A Rhinelander police officer located the man, Andrew Patrick Miles Gorman, 26, matching the description from the caller, in front of James William Middle School on Acacia Lane.
Police took the caller to identify Gorman, and she said she was “very certain” it was him who exposed himself to her.
Police also took the caller to where she said the incident occurred, the midway point between Acacia Lane and East Timber Lane, for her to walk them through what happened.
The police officer with the caller, the report says, confirmed with her that Gorman allegedly touched her buttocks as well. The caller said the incident occurred “all of a sudden.”
Both officers, who were with the caller and Gorman at separate locations, met with Gorman and he denied touching the caller or even walking down the street she was on, but did say he was at a nearby church for a few hours that day.
The caller recalled to police she was wearing headphones at the time of the incident and didn’t hear Gorman allegedly come up behind her. According to the report, she said “When I turned around it was like limp junk” and Gorman appeared to be “deranged.”
Ultimately, Gorman was placed under arrest.
According to court records, the suspect is being charged on two class A misdemeanors for 4th degree sexual assault and lewd, lascivious behavior-exposure — the most serious type of misdemeanor offenses in Wisconsin which carry for each charge maximum penalties of nine months in jail or a $10,000 fine, or both.
Gorman appeared in Oneida County court on Monday, where judge Michael Schiek set a $1,000 signature bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 28 at 2:30 p.m.
