Boys’ hockey: Waupaca 4, Rhinelander 1

The Rhinelander High School boys’ hockey team dropped a Great Northern Conference game 4-1 at Waupaca Monday night. 

Down 3-1 in the third, the Hodags gave up an empty-net goal with 2:04 remaining for the final margin. The Comets scored twice each in the first and third period. Drake Nelson had Rhinelander’s goal midway through the third period. 

The official scoresheet did not list third period shots for either team. Waupaca unofficially outshot Rhinelander 52-24. Asher Rivord unofficially made 48 saves in the loss. 

Rhinelander (2-14-0, 0-5-0-0 Great Northern) hosts Lakeland on Thursday.
