Rhinelander High School volleyball coach Jayme Wyss showcased her track and field skills earlier this month as she took first place and set a new American record in the women’s heptathlon at the USA Track & Field (USATF) Masters Indoor Heptathlon National Championships in Milwaukee.
Wyss shattered the record in the seven-event competition, scoring 3,425 points, breaking the previous mark of 2,932 set a year prior by Erycka Fisher of Broomfield, Colo. The heptathlon consists of a 60-meter dash, the long jump, shot put, high jump, 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 800-meter run.
