Free income tax assistance available
Trained and certified volunteers, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service and working through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program, will once again provide free TY2024 Federal and State Income Tax and Wisconsin Homestead Credit preparation including electronic filing. The target group for this service is people with low to moderate income, with an emphasis on those 60 and older, organizers said in a press release.
This service, provided at no cost, is available at the ADRC of Oneida County in Rhinelander, by appointment only, each Monday and Wednesday February 3 - April 9. Contact the ADRC of Oneida County office at 715-369-6170 to schedule an appointment.
The Rhinelander site expects to prepare and e-file approximately 500 returns for the 2024 Tax Year with about one-third including a Homestead Tax Credit.
In the Northwoods, there are also tax-aide sites in Eagle River at the Olson Public Library on Wednesdays from Feb. 5 to April 9 (call 715-479-3727 for appointments) and in Minocqua at the Public Library on Fridays from Feb. 7 to April 11 (call 715-356-4437 for appointments).
