Tomahawk man killed in head-on crash

A Tomahawk man was killed early Tuesday morning in a head-on crash in the Town of Woodboro.
According to the Oneida County sheriff’s office, several calls were received at approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday reporting a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 8 near the intersection of Spring Creek Road.
“Wisconsin State Patrol was on scene shortly after and determined that the operator of the eastbound Toyota Camry was deceased,” the sheriff’s office explained in a press release. “The operator of the westbound GMC Sierra was checked by medics at the scene. The Wisconsin State Patrol is completing the accident investigation and reconstruction.”
On Wednesday, the State Patrol identified the deceased as Daniel Richard Reiter, 58, of Tomahawk. The operator of the other vehicle was identified as a 53-year-old Abbotsford woman.
Highway 8 westbound traffic was rerouted to CTH K, and eastbound traffic rerouted to CTH N to HWY K, according to the release.
On scene assisting the Wisconsin State Patrol were personnel from the sheriff’s office, Woodboro First Responders, Cassian Fire Department, Crescent Fire Department, Nokomis Fire Department Oneida County Ambulance Service, Oneida County Highway Department, Lincoln County Highway Department, Oneida County Medical Examiner, Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
