Siegfried “Sig” Bedder
Siegfried “Sig” Bedder went home to Jesus on Monday, February 10, 2025. He was 60 years old at the time of death. Sig was born on the north side of Chicago on December 19, 1964. In 1971, he moved to Bundy with his family and became a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where he was baptized.
As a young child, Sig, like his mum, became an avid fan of all types of music. He belonged to the Bundy Bible Bunch and the Bundy Bible Singers with his sister, Renate. The group was invited to sing on stage at Sunday services and at the first and second Hodag Country Music Festival.
His love of music continued into his adult years and he attended many concerts including the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, KISS, Depeche Mode, and many more, but Bruce Springsteen was his hero; he attended 25 Springsteen concerts around the United States and a tour in Germany. Everyone was always amazed by his ability to tell you who sang the song, the name of the band, and the year the song came out.
In addition to music, Sig was an avid sports fan. When he lived in Chicago the Bears were his team. After moving to Rhinelander and a few Lambeau Field games, Sig decided his allegiance would forever more be the Packers.
He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1982 and served in the United States Air Force from July of 1982 to December of 1992. He spent time at the Wiesbaden Air Force Base and because of his language skills, was asked to return to the States to teach. Sig met Mary, his wife, at San Angelo Air Force Base in 1986, fell in love, married, and relocated again back to Germany. He also completed a tour in Desert Storm then returned to Fort Meade, Md.
In 1993, Sig began his second career with Saturn and became a sales consultant. Due to his easy-going nature, cheerfulness, positive attitude, and thoughtfulness, he excelled. Coworkers and customers alike enjoyed his company and he worked for the same company until February 2024.
Siegfried is survived by his mother, Sugie, and her husband, Shaun Murphy; his wife, Mary; his sister, Renate, and her husband, Michael; and his best friend, Maria Hutchinson, and her son, Nick.
He will be laid to rest at the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery in Lake Nebagamon. This was a place he loved to visit with his sister at their cabin during the summer and where he celebrated the Fourth of July for many years. A time and date for a celebration of life gathering will follow in the near future. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory of Tomahawk is assisting the family.
Lyrics by the “Boss”
We said we'd walk together, baby, come what may
That come the twilight, should we lose our way?
If as we're walking a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
Love you and till we meet again
