Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 64, Mosinee 61

The Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team held on down the stretch to defeat Mosinee 64-61 in a pivotal GNC matchup at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

The Indians missed a tying 3-pointer in the final seconds and though Rhinelander committed a turnover on the final inbound play, Mosinee could not get a shot off before time expired.

Devon Feck led the Hodags with 17 points, but was slowed in the second half due to a knee issue. Abe Gretzinger scored 15 off the bench and Evan Shoeder added 10 points for the Hodags.

The win sets up a winner-take-all GNC championship game between Rhinelander and Medford at Raider Hall next Thursday but first, Rhinelander (16-5, 9-2 Great Northern) hosts Merrill Monday in non-conference play.
