RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Feb. 18

Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 73, Laona/Wabeno 39

The Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team cruised in non-conference play Tuesday night, defeating Laona/Wabeno 73-39 at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium. 

Rhinelander used a 17-0 run in the first half to seize control and went ahead 39-20 at halftime. Evan Shoeder led the Hodags with a season-high 18 points while Jatyn Barkus and Truman Lamers scored 14 each.

Rhinelander (15-5, 8-2 Great Northern) hosts Mosinee on Friday.

Girls’ basketball: Rhinelander 53, Wausau East 17

The Rhinelander High School girls’ basketball team closed out the first half on a 30-1 run and defeated Wausau East 53-17 Tuesday night in Wausau. 

Vivian Lamers led Rhinelander with 20 points while Dawsyn Barkus added 11 for the Hodags.

Rhinelnader (13-10, 7-4 Great Northern) will close out the regular season at Mosinee on Friday.
