Night of Celtic music highlights library’s March events
The Rhinelander District Library has a number of programs in store for the month of March including a night of Celtic music in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
The library will present Celtic Harp with Jeff Pockat on Wednesday, March 5, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Pockat is a musician and composer. He will be performing music on the wire-strung Gaelic Harp with tales of the harp, the music, the players, and the times in which they lived.
Calling all plant enthusiasts! Bring plant cuttings to get plant cuttings at RDL’s first Plant Swap on Saturday, March 8 in the adult department. Early bird swapping will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., and the swap will open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring up to three plant cuttings to the library from Wednesday, March 5 to Friday, March 7 to get your early bird ticket and get first pick on the day of the event! Plant cuttings should be wrapped in a wet paper towel, placed in a Ziploc bag, and clearly labeled with their name. Don’t miss this chance to meet fellow plant parents and get some new baby plants to cultivate!
Everyone deserves the chance to fly and see the new “Wicked” movie! Visit the library for a movie matinee of the 2024 “Wicked” film on Thursday, March 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the library meeting room. Settle in with a bag of popcorn for an afternoon of spectacular music and colorful fantasy. Wicked is rated PG and runs for 2 hours, 40 minutes. Attending minors should be accompanied by an adult.
The library is proud to announce the start of a monthly, all-ages Chess Club on the third Saturday of each month, including Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. to noon in the library meeting room. If you’d like to learn how to play chess, there will be an instructor standing by. Otherwise, join at any time to find a worthy opponent! Chess boards will be provided. For chess enthusiasts of all ages.
After you get a new plant, all you need is a plant hanger! Join library staff to make a Macrame Plant Hanger on Monday, March 24, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the library meeting room. All supplies will be provided. Please note that registration is required for this event. Registration is limited and will begin on Monday, March 10. Ages 18+.
Back by popular demand! Join library staff for a Puzzle Swap on Saturday, March 29, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the library adult department. Donations will be accepted on the day of the event. Bring up to five puzzles and receive tickets for selecting new puzzles from 10:30 to 11 a.m. People who donated will have the chance to pick out new puzzles in five structured selection rounds from 11 to 11:30 a.m. All leftover puzzles will be donated to the library/Re-Tale shop.
Get your brick on! Join the library for a monthly LEGO® Building Club for adults on the last Monday of each month. This month’s event will take place on Monday, March 31, 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Create your own masterpiece or follow the provided building challenge prompts. LEGO® Blocks will be provided for the duration of the event. Ages 18+.
