Outraged constituent wants Tiffany to defend the rule of law
To the Editor:
An open letter to Congressman Tiffany.
You have been a steadfast supporter of President Trump.
As your constituent, I want you to know that I am outraged by his current assault on the rule of law and our Constitutional order.
Trump recently pardoning convicted criminals who violently assaulted police officers and attempted — at Trump’s behest — to prevent the peaceful transfer of power based on his lie of a stolen election. He is now directing the DOJ to fire career prosecutors who protected the public and our Republic by bringing these lawbreakers to justice through due process. Trump has also directed the FBI to identify career law enforcement agents who were involved in these investigations so that they can be terminated.
Concurrent with this, Trump has given Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire without a security clearance and with clear conflicts of interests, carte blanche to decimate government agencies, as well as fire individuals without oversight or accountability. Mr. Musk borrowed $1.4 billion from banks controlled by the Chinese government to build Tesla’s Shanghai factory, which provided more than half of Tesla’s global deliveries in the third quarter of 2024. Additionally his U.S. businesses are regulated by the FAA, EPA, NHTSA etc. and receive billions of dollars in payments and subsidies from NASA and the DOD. It is beyond irresponsible to allow this conflicted oligarch to wreak havoc on our government. The elimination of U.S.A.I.D and the takeover of our treasury’s payment system are but two examples of a current constitutional crisis triggered by Musk.
These actions are what we expect in authoritarian regimes, not the United States of America.
In 1780 John Adams described a “government of laws not of men.”
You are my representative, I expect you to defend the rule of law, our law enforcement officers, prosecutors and our Constitution. Please live up to your oath of office and make a public statement denouncing the above. To stay silent is to give tacit approval to lawlessness and authoritarianism.
